NEW SINGLE  NOVEMBER 4th 2022

NEW SINGLE FROM VIOLET ROAD

In the fall of 2007, we were in studio recording our first album. After seven days of melancholy and sad, sad songs, we decided to try a cover of a more festive song, since we hadn’t been able to make one ourselves just yet. We ended up with “Friday I’m in Love” by the Cure, and woke up the next morning, hung over, and pleasantly surprised that we could sound like this! A few weeks later, “Can you hear the morning singing” our breakthrough song in Norway was written, as a direct consequence of this cover, and the rest is history! And for the first time, we are releasing our version of “Friday I’m in Love” digitally. Enjoy!

BIOGRAPHY

Formed in 2007, Violet Road released their debut album ”Letters” in 2008, and the band, consisting of Kjetil Holmstad-Solberg and the Rundberg brothers, started playing all the clubs of their hometown Tromsø, Norway.

Hungry for more, Violet Road started touring the whole country and they got the attention they needed. With their second and third album, ”Violet Road” (2011) and ”Peter Every and his marching Band” (2013) released on Playroom/Sony Music, they gained considerable air play and national attention through radio and TV performances. With the critically acclaimed ”Back to the Roadshow” (2014 Sony) they really hit the sweet spot in the live market, and with the album ”In Town to get You” (2016 Sony) they saw their biggest tour so far.

Violet Road has become known for great live shows, with huge musical spans, but always with Kjetil's lead vocal and the brothers' harmonies glued in as one big trademark. They want the crowd to leave a concert full of every emotion possible.

Joel Hamilton (Tom Waits, The Black Keys, Highly Suspects, Sparklehorse, Bomba Estereo etc.) was chosen to produce and mix the latest album “Lines Across Light”, which will be released September 21st, 2018 in the Nordic countries.

The first single, ”Monument”, is featured on the Norwegian State Railways TV commercial in Norway, as well as listed on the biggest Norwegian radio channel NRK P1. "Keep on Running" (released March 2018) was performed live on Sommeråpent NRK 1 (the biggest Norwegian TV station).

Having just completed a successful festival run all over Norway with great reviews, the band is preparing for a full headlining tour which will last well into 2019.
